René Angélil, husband of singer Celine Dion has died at age 73.
A statement on Dion’s official Facebook page reads “It is with deep sadness that we announce that René Angélil, aged 73, died this morning at her residence in Las Vegas after a long and courageous fight against cancer. The family wishes to live the mourning in privacy. Other information you will be provided in the next few days.”
Dion had previously postponed professional obligations to care for her ailing spouse.
“I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children,” Dion said in a statement told People in August of 2014.
Angelil and Dion were married in December of 1994. The couple have three children René-Charles, 14, and twins Nelson and Eddy who are five.
