Chris Mann Talks About The Power Of Celine Dion Christmas Songs

Growing up, Chris Mann spent the holidays at his grandparents house in Kansas City where there was a very specific playlist every year.

His grandfather, Chris told CBS Local, literally never touched the CD player except for Christmas and that was to turn it on and off and hit play.

“The CDs never changed,” he explained. “It was always Nat King Cole, Mannheim Steamroller, Barbra Streisand, Sinatra. So for me, that means Christmas.”

Though The Voice alum loves holiday music in general his favorite song is “O Holy Night,” which is featured on his EP, Home For Christmas.

Though Mann is a fan of his own darker take on the classic, he says it’s Celine Dion who really does it the best.

The song, which was featured on the Canadian singer’s 1998 holiday album, These Are Special Times, came out when Chris was in high school, but he says her version is the one that sticks out the most to him.

“Her voice is just ridiculous,” Chris said. “She totally killed it on that song.”

Not that Chris is surprised, since Celine’s powerhouse voice could make almost any song sound beautiful.

“She could sing ‘Grandma Got Run Over By Reindeer,’” he joked. “She can do whatever she wants, I mean, she’s Celine.”
